The Consecrated Fast

The Consecrated Fast is The Oasis’ annual Daniel fast that takes place in May. It is a time of waiting on God, consecrating ourselves for what He is set to do in our lives. Through the Consecrated Fast, we have seen souls saved, rededicated to God, purified, spiritual lives transformed and people come into new levels of intimacy with God. We have also seen the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and had the honour of baptising God’s children.

This year, the fast is back with a twist — it will also be a secular media fast. Meaning that for 10 days, we will also not consume any social media, secular music or tv shows or films. Rather, we will focus on the study of God’s word and limit our overall media consumption, only taking in what will edify and strengthen our spirits.

The theme of this year’s fast is "Sanctified for the Master’s Use",

taken from 2 Timothy 2:21 which says "Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work." Our focus will be on what it means to be sanctified for the work of God and why this is necessary.
